As the PLC Facilitator for high school elective teachers, I lead weekly collaborative meetings focused on instructional best practices, behavior management strategies, school initiatives, and student success. By facilitating productive discussions and encouraging the sharing of ideas, I help create a collaborative environment where teachers learn from one another and work together to improve student outcomes. 

As a member of the school's Guiding Coalition, I collaborate with administrators and teacher leaders to support school-wide improvement efforts. Through shared decision-making, data analysis, and strategic planning, I contribute to initiatives that strengthen school culture and promote student achievement. 

When the school's theatre program unexpectedly lost its teacher at the beginning of the school year, I recognized the need to support a large group of students who were at risk of losing an activity they valued. Although I had no prior theatre experience, I volunteered to serve as the Thespian Troupe sponsor when no one else was available. Through student-centered leadership, fundraising efforts, and grant writing, I helped provide opportunities for students to continue participating in theatre. The troupe competed at the district level, where three students earned Superior ratings and qualified to advance to the state competition.

Over the following years, as Thespian students graduated, I helped transform the organization into the Fine Arts Society, expanding opportunities for students interested in theatre, visual art, and music. Under this new structure, students collaborated on school-wide talent shows and produced a murder mystery dinner, creating additional opportunities for creativity, leadership, and community engagement.

As the National Art Honor Society sponsor, I mentor student artists while encouraging leadership, service, and artistic excellence. Students participate in school and community service projects, exhibitions, and activities that allow them to use their creativity to make a positive impact while developing responsibility and leadership skills. 

As Class Sponsor for the graduating Class of 2021, I worked alongside students to organize events, encourage school spirit, and help create meaningful experiences throughout their high school years. This role strengthened relationships with students while supporting a positive and inclusive school culture. 

Outside of the classroom, I have served as a Girl Scout Leader, providing young people with opportunities to develop leadership, creativity, resilience, and a commitment to community service. Guiding scouts through badge work, service projects, outdoor experiences, and leadership activities has reinforced my belief that education extends far beyond the classroom.

Receiving special recognition for my service as a Girl Scout leader was a meaningful acknowledgment of my dedication to mentoring youth and fostering leadership within the community.

Being selected as Teacher of the Year by my colleagues was one of the greatest honors of my career. This recognition reflects my commitment to creating an engaging learning environment, building strong relationships with students and colleagues, and contributing positively to the school community. It serves as a reminder that meaningful teaching is rooted in passion, collaboration, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
